Thank you for visiting the Beaver Creek Elementary website. We are located at 8701 Lyndhurst Drive in Johnston, Iowa. Johnston is a growing suburban community northwest of Des Moines, Iowa. Beaver Creek is one of five elementary buildings in the Johnston Community School District, and will serve approximately 585 Kindergarten through fifth grade during the 2024-25 school year.

There are over seventy dedicated professionals on the staff at Beaver Creek. The teachers and staff members are committed to students and work hard to ensure every student makes growth during the school year. There are twenty-four Kindergarten through fifth grade homerooms at Beaver Creek, in addition to a full-time  and half-time school counselor, a full-time teacher librarian, and a full-time nurse. All students at Beaver Creek go to PE, Art, and Music classes every learning cycle. Our Extended Learning Program (ELP) serves our students requiring academic enrichment. Reading support personnel are on staff to assist our students with reading/literacy skills. Special education programs are available for students entitled for those supports, along with an English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program to serve Beaver Creek students.

Beaver Creek is a Leader in Me School, and our students and staff members are learning about and trying to live the habits each day. Students are given the opportunity to provide leadership around the school by doing various jobs, and the number of jobs will continue to expand throughout the year.

The Beaver Creek Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is second to none. The PTO raises funds and plans community events for students and families. This partnership enhances the learning environment and helps make Beaver Creek Elementary a better place for students.

There are many ways to measure a school, and one is by standardized test scores. Beaver Creek historically scores high on reading and mathematics as measured by the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress and is considered a Commendable school on the Iowa School Performance Profile. While we are pleased with the results, work is constantly being done to make sure every student grows every year and realizes his/her potential.
