 JHS WOMEN’S GOLF

Attention Johnston Women’s Golfers.  Please fill out the following form to communicate your intentions for JHS Spring Women’s Golf 2023 (students must fill out the form).  JHS Spring Women’s Golf is for current 9th-12th graders in spring 2023.  We will again make every effort possible to have sessions for current 7th and 8th graders, so please signup so you can get information regarding the program.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Coach Hattel at chattel@johnston.k12.ia.us.

MathCounts next meeting is Tuesday, November 1 from 3 to 4 pm. We will meet in Mrs. Lewis’ room in Mission Community.

GSA CLUB

The Summit GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) next club meeting will be on Thursday, October 27 from 3-3:30 pm in Room 136 (Expedition Community).

GSA club members MUST have transportation home from Summit after the meeting. Please reach out to the GSA staff sponsors, Mrs. Heston or Mrs. Brock with any questions.

 **PRACTICES WILL HAPPEN AT JMS, and a shuttle bus will take Summit students to JMS after school. 

VOLLEYBALL

Johnston volleyball club (JVBC) tryouts will take place in October. JVBC is affiliated with the Johnston school volleyball program and is a great way to learn/improve on the sport before school ball begins in 8th grade!

Featured Book of the Week

A Soft Place to Land features a girl named Joy, whose family is going through some difficult times.  Her father loses his job, and they have to move to a small apartment.  Luckily, Joy meets a friend in the building who shares with her the neighborhood hideout.  Joy also tries to solve a mystery about who the mysterious writer is that keeps leaving her secret messages in the hideout.
