MATH COUNTS CONGRATS
We want to congratulate the team of Kate Shi, Sree Bethanapalli, Tansi Bandaru, and Joanne Foo who placed 5th at the competition and will be advancing to State at DMACC on March 23rd. The competition is open to all 6th-8th graders and there were around 200 competitors from 24 schools. A team of all 8th graders from JMS placed 1st. WAY TO GO AND GOOD LUCK AT STATE!!

Meets first and third Tuesdays of the month from 3 until 3:45. February 21 will be our next meeting.
MINECRAFT CLUB
Meets Monday, February 27th from 3-4pm in Mr. Buchan’s room (233). Students are responsible for transportation home. Please see Ms. Ites with questions.
WARRIORS CLUB
For fans of the Warriors book series! We meet every other Tuesday in Mr. Hiatt’s room, Team Mission, from 3:00 to 3:30 PM. Please make sure your ride is at Summit at 3:30. For more information, please contact Mr. Hiatt at mhiatt@jdragonmail.us
HYPERSTREAM
Tuesday and Thursday groups are up and running. If you’d like to join, please email Mr. Motz (jeff.motz@johnston.k12.ia.us) and he will get back to you about coming to our group. Students are currently learning to code using a language called “PYTHON” and playing video games with friends to have fun!
GSA CLUB
The Summit GSA meets second and fourth Thursdays. The next meeting will be Thursday, February 23 from 3-3:30 pm in Room 136 (Expedition Community). Nonfiction fans will love Fallout! This narrative nonfiction book tells the story of the Cold War and just how close we got to a nuclear war in the 1960’s. This book is on next year’s Iowa Teen Award list.
