SMS Announcements-Thursday, Jan. 25th-B Day

FRIDAY-A DAY

BEHAVIOR FOCUS

For this week’s focus we want the focus to be on using school appropriate language while at school. Making threats of any kind is not acceptable and will result in a consequence. Students instigating any type of threat of violence will also have a consequence. We want to encourage students that if they hear something, they should say something to an adult. It needs to be reported to either a teacher, counselor or administrator.

CONGRATULATIONS SUMMIT ARTISTS

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE Summit Artists who have been chosen to represent Summit Middle School as artists who practice our expectations and go above and beyond each day!

Students’ work will be going to the Art Educators of Iowa Youth Art Month forum with other artists K-12 from area Iowa schools. Students’ work will be taking place in a juried show that will be judged by a group of highly recognized artists and retired educators in the field. Once judged some will be shown in the Youth Art Month Show case in March, on display at the capitol building or part of the Art Educators of Iowa traveling show.

Artists are Jordene Tomahn, Cameron James George, Tyla Crone, Jenna Polich, Illima Shi, Sammi Barnhill, Frances Young, Elsa Clarke & Emmi Koenan

January Dragon Dispatch

Click here to read the newest addition of our student newspaper, The Dragon Dispatch.     This month is written and edited by the 7th grade Media Literacy students.

New Manga section

Thanks to the PTO and the success of the book fair, I’m building a new manga section in the library.  As I get things processed, I will add them to the new section, so there will be new stuff appearing for a while.  It’s already been very popular!

Featured Book of the Week

A First Time for Everything is a graphic novel about a young man’s travels in Europe while he was in middle school.  Based on Dan Santat’s real life, this is a great read!
