We have been meeting after school every other Monday from October thru December and every Monday since then. The hard work paid off! We want to congratulate the following students who advanced to the State Competition at DMACC on March 25th: David Shi (12th place), Kovidh Talluri (19th place), Derek Brown (32nd place), Abbie Tu (52ndplace), and Shanmukh Vallabhajosyula (54th place). There were 90 students attending out of hundreds from around the state that participated in the Math Counts competition this year. WAY TO GO!!!

GARDEN CLUB
Garden Club will meet Thursday after school.
Summit Garden Club is seeking gently used garden tools and supplies.
Last gardening season, the Summit Garden Club was able to donate over 600 pounds of fresh produce to the Johnston Partnership. Students are seeking to beat that amount this year, but we need your help! We are seeking donations of gently used gardening tools and supplies.
Items might include garden rakes, weeders, shovels, trowels, spades, pitchforks, cultivators, etc. If your home is looking to replace your used tools and/or you are looking to make space in your storage, we would gladly take any unused/unwanted garden supplies off your hands. Please contact Allison Barlow at allison.barlow@johnston.k12.ia.us if you have any questions. Donations can be brought to the front office.
SUMMIT GSA MEETING
GSA meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Next meeting will be April 14 from 3 – 3:30 in room 226. Please contact Mrs. Brock or Mrs. Heston with any questions.
FROM THE LIBRARY
Book Madness
It was a very close Championship Game, but Harry Potter took the title of “Summit’s Favorite Book” this year! Thank you to everyone that voted!
April Contest
April showers bring May flowers! Can you guess how many umbrellas are in this container? Record your guess here or in the library with your iPad.
Featured Book of the Week
The newest book from Kelly Yang, New From Here, tells the story of a family that returns to the United States after living abroad in Hong Kong at the beginning of the pandemic. Can Knox keep his family together even though his dad has to remain in Hong Kong for his job?
Summit Book Club
There will be NO Book Club on Monday, April 4th.
WORLD CULTURE CLUB
Did you know you don’t have to speak more than one language or be from a different country to have culture? Every person has culture, and members of the World Culture Club want to learn and talk about it! The World Culture Club will meet on Thursdays from 2:50 to 3:30 in room 200. Next meeting Thursday, April 7.
PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE A RIDE HOME!
If you want to join, ask your parents and fill out the required form here: World Culture Club Signup
