🔷🔷 MONDAY is PURPLE B-Day ODD!
Repeat Announcements:
The tech department has created a guide to help you troubleshoot iPad problems while you are off-campus. It can be found in your Books app and is titled “iPad Help Guide for Online Learning.” You can also access it at
http://www.johnston.k12.ia.us/technologyservices/iPad%20Help%20Guide.pdf. The guide is saved to your iPad so that even if your iPad loses Internet connection, it will still be available to read.
Attention 9th Grade Students and Parents! Students who wish to obtain a school driver’s permit can follow the following link: https://www.johnstoncsd.org/school-news/school-drivers-permit-process/
This link will guide them to a Google Site. Students will need to log in with their jdragonmail credentials in order to watch a video and complete a quiz. The video contains the information that was presented at permit meetings in the past and will now take the place of those meetings. One parent will need to watch the video and note that completion on the quiz. As usual, the only students eligible are 9th graders who have completed driver’s education and have had their learner’s permit for at least six months. After the quiz has been completed, students can pick up their signed Department of Transportation form in the JMS Front Office. Students will need a parking tag to park on school grounds during the school year. Parking tags are available for $20 when students pick up their DOT form. Please make sure you have your license plate number with you at the time of purchase.
Beginning Monday, September 14, ALL students will receive FREE breakfast and lunch MEALS courtesy of the USDA’s free meal service program. This will continue through December 31 or until the program’s funds are exhausted. At that time, all families will go back to being charged based on their free/reduced/paid status. Be sure to fill out the free and reduced meal application to determine the status after the waiver expires.
Students need to pick up a full meal when they go through the lunch line for it to qualify; ala carte and additional items can still be purchased separately.
Attention any 9th grade boy wishing to participate in soccer. Click on this link to fill out a form letting the coach know you are interested in playing. Any questions, contact Jim Frizell at the high school.
Calling all artists! You are invited to submit original artwork to a contest to choose the cover for this year’s JMS Yearbook. The yearbook theme for the 2020-2021 book is Welcome to the New Normal. The contest winner’s work will appear on the front cover and wrap around on the back cover, so size/proportion accordingly. Entries are due to Ms. Kehrli (Room 516) by Friday, October 16 and will be judged based on creative interpretation of the theme and originality. Use any 2-dimensional media (photography, drawing, painting, collage, digital art, etc.). Entries not selected for the cover may be included inside the book to showcase student creativity. Questions? Ask Ms. Kehrli, Mr. Kirkholm, or Ms. James.
