Teachers will update weekly assignments every Sunday so students know what needs to be done the following week. In the weekly updates, teachers will communicate any due dates for student work.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
NEW CAFETERIA PROCEDURE: To be in line with cafeteria procedures at JHS, JMS will no longer be allowing bags or coats in the serving area at breakfast and lunch. Please have your valuables on you when you go through the serving line and leave your bags and coats at your table. This will be effective starting Monday, November 7.
REPEAT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
JMS PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES: Parent Teacher Conferences will be held at JMS on Thursday, November 10 from 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM. Conferences will be held virtually via Google Meet. The link you need to make an appointment is below.

REMINDER – 9th GRADE 22-23 SPRING DMACC ONLINE COURSES: Registration is open for Spring online DMACC classes for 9th graders. Please visit the JMS Counseling website for resources and links with additional information. Students MUST connect with Mrs. Lunn, school counselor, by November 11th to get registered for any online classes.

9th GRADE JHS MOCK TRIAL: Beginning soon! An informational meeting for grades 9-12 Mock Trial will be held on Tuesday, November 15th at 7:00 PM in the JMS library. Attending a Mock Trial meeting is required for any new students to participate (including 9th grade students who participated in middle school mock trial). This meeting is for both students and parents when possible. Please bring the attached registration form with you to the meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you must contact Ms. McConnell (molly.mcconnell@johnston.k12.ia.us) to discuss your participation by November 8. NEW HS MT Student reg 2023

MATHCOUNTS CLUB: Mathcounts next meeting is Friday November 4, Room 101 at 3:00pm.
VETERAN’S DAY: In celebration of Veteran’s Day, JMS will have a virtual assembly via livestream on Thursday, November 10 at 8:30 AM and we need your help! We will have a slideshow of Johnston residents that are Veterans. Please complete this survey if you have a photo of a family member, neighbor, family friend, etc. that are a Johnston resident and a Veteran that you would like included in our slideshow. Deadline to submit the photo is Friday, November 5.

ATTENTION 8TH GRADE ACTIVITY PASS HOLDERS: If you are an 8th grader and purchased an Activity Pass, there was an error in the printing. YOU MUST BRING YOUR CURRENT ACTIVITY PASS TO THE COUNSELING OFFICE to swap out for the new & improved version. You can do this between the hours of 7:30 am – 2:00 pm.
