  • SPRING BOOK FAIR: Our Spring Book Fair starts Tuesday, February 25th and is open through Friday, March 6th.  We will be open the following hours:

Wednesday, Feb. 26th- 8:00 am to 1:45 pm

Thursday, Feb. 27th- 8:00 am to 11:45 am and 1:30 pm to 8:00 pm

Friday, Feb. 28th- 8:00 am to 12:00 pm

Monday, March 2nd- 12:00 pm to 2:45 pm

Tuesday, March 3rd- 12:00 pm to 2:45 pm

Wednesday, March 4th- 8:00 am to 12:00 pm

Thursday, March 5th- 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm

Friday, March 6th- 8:00 am to 11:00 am

Your parents can add money to an eWallet account at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/summitmiddleschool3 and you can come shop at the book fair without having to bring cash to school.  It works like your lunch account!

Today (Tuesday, Feb. 25) is a FULL PURPLE CAST rehearsal. Please be present with lines memorized and ready to quietly pay attention to the rehearsal and be ready to go on stage at your appointed time.

Wednesday 2/26 : Full GOLD cast rehearsal 2 – 4 p.m.- full run-through with all lines memorized and everyone present.

Thursday 2/27: Both Casts from 12 – 3:30 p.m.

Friday 2/28: Full PURPLE cast from 3 – 5 p.m.

  • NATIONAL HISTORY DAY: All students participating in National History Day need to be registered by Friday February 28.  The $13.00 entrance fee may be paid on the day of the event, or submitted to Dr. Kevin Gannon at Grandview University; see notes on this after you complete registration.   Any Checks must be made out to Grand View University with “History Day” in the memo.

Remaining practices will be the following:

  • Tuesday 2/25 – (*complete registration for those who haven’t done it yet) / set up Process Papers and revamp thesis statements
  • Friday 2/28 – (*complete registration for those who haven’t done it yet) / begin to annotate minimum or 20 sources
  • Tuesday 3/3 – primary / secondary annotations – discuss timeline construction (number of events to use and how to include theme)
  • Friday 3/5 – timelines
  • Tuesday 3/10 – theme infusion in all project / rough draft review
  • Thurs 3/12 – rough draft review  / prep for practice presentations following SB
  • FRIDAY 3/13 – PAPERS DUE AT GRANDVIEW UNIVERSITY BY 4:00PM / WEBSITES LOCK AT 10:00PM
  • SPRING BREAK
  • TUESDAY 3/23 – PRACTICE PRESETATIONS – use feedback to make changes
  • THURSDAY 3/26 – PRACTICE PRESETATIONS –use feedback to make changes
  • SATURDAY 3/28 – MERLE HAY REGIONALS AT GRANDVIEW UNIVERSITY, STARTING AT 7:30AM.

  • FROM THE LIBRARY: It’s Back!!!  Book Madness is back!  Stop by the library next week to look over the brackets and make your choice for which book will go all the way in the tournament!  You have one week to vote for the all around winner.  Head to head match ups will begin in March.
  • NHD DROP-INS FOR FEBRUARY: Fri 2/28 Online Registration for the Merle Hay Regional is due on 2/26; Ms. Ites will be helping students sign up during the NHD drop-ins the week of Feb. 18.   Email Ms. Ites with any questions.
