FRIDAY – B DAY

NATIONAL HISTORY DAY AT SUMMIT:

Do you like learning the story behind events in history?  Are you interested in showing your passion for a specific time or event in the past?  All Summit students are invited to participate in the 2021 National History Day Competition.

On Monday from 3:30pm – 4:30pm there will be an informational Zoom meeting for students interested in participating in National History Day this spring.  This year’s theme is Communication in History: The Key to Understanding.  Ms. Ites will be sharing the theme, a general overview of the NHD research process and project entries, and how the virtual competitions will work.  We also will discuss the best times to set up future Zoom practice sessions.

Hope to see you there!

The Perfect Score is the first book in a series of 3 by Rob Buyea.  This story follows 5 different sixth graders in Mrs. Wood’s class.  As state assessments come closer, the kids start to feel anxious about their performance and all of them are feeling some pressure to get “the perfect score.”  One student has an idea that would help them achieve “the perfect score.”  Will they do it?  Is it cheating?  Read this Iowa Children’s Choice nominee to find out!
