ALTOONA, Ia. (April 10, 2024) — JMS students won the middle school chapter championship at the Iowa Technology Student Association (TSA) spring state conference at Adventureland Resort this week, while 10 JHS students competing in nine events qualified for the national TSA conference, June 26-30 in Orlando, Florida.

Jonston Middle School students competed in 14 events and placed in the top three in every event except one.  That earned them the title of middle school chapter champions at the State TSA Conference. In addition, JMS student Ethan Huebbe was elected to the state officer team for the upcoming year.

Meanwhile, 28 Johnston High School students completed in more than 30 STEM events. Ten of those students competing in nine events qualified for the national TSA conference, June 26-30 in Orlando, Florida. In addition, two JHS students — Advik Bajpai and Shreyas Shrestha — were elected to the state officer team. JHS student Maanit Sheth is the outgoing president.

The Technology Student Association (TSA) fosters personal growth, leadership and opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Members apply and integrate these concepts through co-curricular activities, competitions and related programs.

Johnston is home to a former national president of the Technology Student Association: Esha Bolar, a 2023 JHS graduate. Here are results from this week’s State TSA Conference:IMG 9718
