2024-2025 Academic Calendar up for Jan. 22 public hearing, vote
JOHNSTON, Ia. (Jan. 14, 2024) — The proposed 2024-2025 Academic Calendar will be up for a public hearing and vote at the Johnston Board of Education’s next meeting, scheduled to begin 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22 in the board room of the District Office, 6510 NW 62nd Ave, Johnston.
The recommended calendar has the school year starting on Friday, Aug. 23, the first day allowed by the state of Iowa. The calendar brings together the consensus of the staff, unions and Admin Team, and exceeds the 1,080 minimum hours required by the state.

This is the process that last year eliminated early-out Wednesdays for the current school year and created additional full-day professional development days, including a fall break and extra day of winter break, which have been well-received.
