Seven JHS future business leaders qualify for national competition
CORALVILLE, Ia. (April 3, 2023) — Seven Johnston High School students have qualified for the 2023 FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) National Leadership Conference, which will be held June 27 to 30 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Their qualification came after 10 students from Johnston competed in the 2023 FBLA State Leadership Conference, held March 29 to April 1 at the Hyatt Regency Conference Center in Coralville.
The students attended with help from a $2,000 grant that the JHS Business Club received in February from the Johnston Community School Foundation.
FBLA aims to inspire and prepare students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. The group helps to prepare students for careers in business, entrepreneurship, finance, information technology and management.
Johnston High School students competed in various business topics at the state conference and made the Top 10 in the following events:

The state conference consisted of general sessions, competitive events, seminars, workshops, the election of officers, awards and recognition, special programs, and other leadership and educational learning activities.
Only the top entries in each qualifying event advance to the National FBLA Leadership Conference.
