15 Johnston students selected for prestigious OPUS Honor Choir
AMES, Ia. (Nov. 17, 2022) — Fifteen Summit and Johnston Middle School students are participating in the 36th annual OPUS Honor Choir Festival, being held at 4 p.m. today at C.Y. Stephens Auditorium in the Iowa State Center in Ames.
OPUS is an honor choir opportunity for students in grades 5 to 9, sponsored by the Iowa Choral Directors Association. Four choirs of 180 voices were chosen for this event.
More than 2,100 students were nominated by their directors for 720 positions in four OPUS Honor Choirs. Those selected were chosen from hundreds of auditions from around the state.
The 7th, 8th and 9th grade Johnston students selected for the OPUS Honor Choir are having a day of rehearsals before performing this afternoon in Ames. Johnston students selected are:
