Johnston school board approves starting Winter Break early
JOHNSTON, Ia. (Oct. 25, 2022) — Winter Break will start a little earlier this year!
During a recent Employee Relations Committee meeting, it was discussed that having a 3-hour early out on Friday, Dec. 23 would be appreciated as it would allow families and staff to begin winter break travel sooner. This change was approved Monday night by the school board. We hope this change will work favorably with your Winter Break plans.
Professional Development Day
Next Monday, Oct. 31 is not only Halloween — it’s also a professional development day for our staff. That means there will be no school on Monday, Oct. 31 and students get to enjoy a three-day weekend.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
November is right around the corner and that means parent-teacher conferences! All schools will have a 3-hour early out on Thursday, Nov. 10 as conferences begin this day. Please look for a communication from your student’s school with details about conferences.
Thanksgiving Break
Can you believe Thanksgiving is only about four weeks away? This year, Thanksgiving Break will be Wednesday to Friday, Nov. 23 to 25.
The 2022-23 academic calendar has been updated to reflect all of these calendar dates, including the change made Monday night. You will now find this updated calendar on our website and app.
