Johnston Baseball Program GIVES BACK! #JohnstonServes
The Johnston Baseball Program, composed of over 120 players and 15 coaches, decided to GIVE BACK in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and a national day of service.
The Baseball Coaches collaborated with the Johnston Partnership, a group that strives to provide a healthy community and help students and families that are struggling or are at-risk due to financial insecurity, within the Johnston Community School District.
#BetterTogether the Baseball Program collected over 300 items for the donation. Each grade level was responsible for a different type of item, some students went above and beyond such as Junior Holden Witt, who personally donated 50 items. Assistant Varsity Coach Tom Steffes said, “It is an awesome thing to see our players become great men. It’s a part of our program, and our program gives back to our community when we can.” When asked about the collaboration and items collected, Head Coach, Michael Barta said “You bet, we are glad to be a part of the national day of service on MLK Day.”
