Dragon Scholarship Fund Needs Board Members!

The Dragon Scholarship Fund is looking for parents of students in the Johnston Community School district to join our board!

Our Mission

The Dragon Scholarship Fund (DSF) goal is to give EVERY JHS senior financial assistance as they continue their education beyond high school. We raise money in the community through personal and business donations and at several events held throughout the year. Dragon Scholarship Fund differs from other scholarship programs in that we strive to financially support every graduating senior who completes the six-step application process. We believe everyone deserves a chance to earn a scholarship, regardless of class rank, financial need, gender, race, creed, or ability.

Our History

Since our original inception in 1987 as a local chapter of the Dollars for Scholars organization, through our eventual incorporation as an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation under the name of Dragon Scholarship Fund, Inc., our organization has awarded over $1,800,000 in scholarships to graduating Johnston seniors. Through the efforts of our volunteer board members and other community volunteers, we raise money in the community through personal and business donations and at several events held throughout the year.

We Need You!

Many of our board members’ terms will be expiring in the next 1-2 years and we need new members to carry on the strong tradition of this program. In addition to attending monthly board meetings, our members oversee the scholarship application and award process as well as a variety of fundraising events throughout the school year.
