Student Council Spring Clean Up
It’s the time of year for spring cleaning and this past week, Johnston High School Student Council members teamed up with the North Polk and Roland-Story student councils to clean up areas of Jester Park, located just north of Johnston.
Nearly 70 high schoolers got some time in the great outdoors as they cleaned up sticks, trash and pulled garlic mustard (an invasive plant species). Student Council sponsors from JHS, North Polk, and Roland-Story worked with a volunteer coordinator to determine where the students would work, putting their time to good use for a good cause.
“The students had a great time meeting other student council members,” said Rachel Jensen, JHS science teacher and student council sponsor. “Being able to get outside on a spring day and beautify Jester Park was a fun way for us to do community service and meet others.”
