Fall Student Athletes Flex Academic Know-How
The Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union & The Iowa High School Athletic Association recognizes those teams and cheerleading squads which collectively have excelled in the classroom. There are two awards which may be earned: Excellence in Academic Achievement Award, given to teams achieving a combined grade point average of 3.0-3.24 and the Distinguished in Academic Achievement Award, given to teams achieving a combined grade point average of 3.25 and above.
- Varsity Boys Cross Country, earning a team cumulative team GPA of 3.786 and receiving the Distinguished in Academic Achievement Award
- Varsity Girls Cross Country, earning a team cumulative team GPA of 3.600 and receiving the Distinguished in Academic Achievement Award
- Varsity Boys Golf, earning a team cumulative team GPA of 3.58 and receiving the Distinguished in Academic Achievement Award
- Varsity Girls Swimming, earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.7448 and receiving the Distinguished in Academic Achievement Award
- Varsity Volleyball, earning a team cumulative team GPA of 3.850 and receiving the Distinguished in Academic Achievement Award
- Varsity Fall Cheerleading, earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.1086 and receiving the Excellence in Academic Achievement Award
- Varsity Football, earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.1609 and receiving the Excellence in Academic Achievement Award
Rastetter, Wheeler Earn State Scholastic Award
Congratulations to girls’ swim/dive team members Abby Rastetter and Ciara Wheeler on earning the 2020 Senior Scholastic awards. This award is given to a senior athlete who had qualified in an individual event at state, and is determined by a combination of their ACT score, GPA and points earned in the state meet competition.
