JCSD Announces New Team Members
Three new names have been added to the district’s administrative office team, effective for the 2019-20 school year, which officially begins on July 1.
Learning Coordinator of English/Language Arts and Social Studies
The district’s new learning coordinator of English/language arts and social studies is Michelle Crannell. She joins us from the Waukee Community School District, where she’s worked as an instructional coach. Michelle will be in buildings quite a bit, getting to know teachers and students while beginning her new role. We are thrilled to have her join Johnston! This role was vacated by Leigh Goldie, who accepted a position elsewhere in the metro. Michelle’s hiring is expected to be approved at the July Board of Education meeting.
Assistant Director of Buildings & Grounds
Richard (Rick) Stark has accepted the assistant director of buildings & grounds position, vacated by Keith Eakins when he retired. Rick is very familiar with the district, as he was hired as a custodian at Beaver Creek in 2015 then moved to Johnston Middle School as the head custodian and was an integral part of their move-in before the 2017-18 school year. Rick’s skills and strengths will be an asset to the entire district in his new role.
Assistant to Office of the Superintendent
With the retirement of Carolyn Ware, Summit Middle School administrative assistant Jenna Logan has been hired as the assistant to the office of the superintendent. Jenna’s been a great addition to the front office staff at Summit and will add much to the superintendent’s office team.
