Schmitz Earns Prestigious IHSADA Scholarship
Michael Schmitz, a senior at Johnston High School, has been named a 2019 Iowa High School Athletic Director Association (IHSADA) District Student Scholarship Winner from Johnston High School.
Earning the IHSADA District Scholarship is an outstanding achievement. To qualify, students must obtain a grade point average of B+ or higher, an overall ACT score of 24, and be ranked in the top 25% of their class. The applicants must also have participated in two sports for at least two years in each sport, and earned at least one varsity letter in each of the two sports. Schmitz participates in cross country, swimming, and track.
In accordance with the IHSADA purpose to promote, facilitate, and increase the knowledge and understanding of the vital role of interscholastic athletics & activities in the educational system, this scholarship program fosters and acknowledges the partnership between the IHSADA and secondary education. The scholarships recognizes the distinguished scholastic, leadership, and citizenship attributes of high school student athletes, and the importance of high school athletics in each student’s life.
Schmitz will formally receive his award at the IHSADA annual convention in late March. Congratulations on this prestigious award!
