Johnston-based FIRST LEGO League team wins invite to California FLL Invitational
Johnston-based FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team “Just The Cats” competed at the Iowa State FIRST LEGO League Tournament on Sunday, January 21, 2019. The team, made up of nine current and former Beaver Creek Elementary students, competed against 59 other FLL teams from the state. “Just the Cats” received the First Runner-up award for the entire tournament. Because of such a strong overall showing in the four categories, Robot Game, Robot Design, Project, and Core Values, “Just the Cats” was invited to compete at LEGOLAND’s Open FLL Invitational Tournament in Carlsbad California this May. The teams is excited and honored to be one of two teams from the state of Iowa chosen to attend.
The Cats have created a GoFundMe account to help offset some costs of their travels.
