Participate in the Choosing Kind Campaign
(Submitted by the JHS National Honor Society)
The National Honor Society of Johnston High School is hosting a free showing of the movie Wonder as a part of their “Choosing Kind Campaign,” April 15th from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at the Johnston Public Library. Along with the movie, there will be free snacks and crafts for kids of all ages. Shirts are also being sold, with the information and order form available here. All forms are due back to your child’s school by April 13.
The Choosing Kind Campaign is inspired by the movie with the intent of mitigating bullying and isolation, and spreading care, friendships, and inclusion among our young students. Therefore, we are using the money raised from the t-shirts and all free-will donations to purchase and install buddy-benches in all of the Johnston elementary schools—a concept introduced in the movie. These can be used to facilitate meeting and making new friends among students. Additionally, any extra money would be used towards even more inclusion-based projects. We aim to establish a culture of kindness while celebrating the diverse friendships among all of our students!
