Wells Fargo Arena Security Measures for State Basketball
(Posted on behalf of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union)
Fans attending the 2018 Girls State Basketball Tournament are advised that Wells Fargo Arena has instituted new security measures for fans entering the arena. Fans attending are advised to allow extra time in getting into the Wells Fargo Arena.
Fans coming to Des Moines for the Girls State Basketball tournament February 26-March 3 are encouraged to pre-purchase tickets online to avoid waiting in line for purchase and security measures.
On line tickets are available at: IGHSAU State Basketball
Please be advised of the following security measures that will be in place for the 2018 tournament.
- New security measures, including walk-through metal detectors, are being introduced for this event and future events at Wells Fargo Arena. Cell Phones, keys, and RFID wallets will need to be removed and placed in a bowl before walking through the metal detectors. These new procedures are recommendations made by Spectra and security partner CSC with consultation from local law enforcement officials and Polk County. Fans are encouraged to allow for extra time to enter Wells Fargo Arena and to leave non-essential items at home.
- Bags no larger than 13″ x 15″ x 6’’ will be permitted into Wells Fargo Arena. Guests who have bags larger than this size will be asked to return them to their vehicles or discard them. This is in addition to the existing policy that all bags, purses or personal items of any size are subject to search. Diaper bags or Medical bags are allowed to exceed that size limit, but will be searched. This policy is subject to change based on a shows request.
