Homecoming Week Festivities (Sept. 25-30)
Hey Dragon Fans! Here’s a run-down of Homecoming activities happening in the community. Many schools have specific dress up/spirit days for their students; please check their websites or parent communication for more information.
Monday: Rock Around the Clock, 7 p.m. at the JHS Baseball field (near the 62nd Ave. stadium/Johnston Middle School). Spectators are invited to watch teams of high school students compete in a variety of games and challenges. CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER. RATC will be held on October 16.
Tuesday: Come out to cheer on the Dragons in cross country, swimming, and volleyball.
- Cross Country: Johnston Invitational starting at 4:30 p.m.
- Girls Swimming: JV and Varsity vs. Ankeny Centennial at 5:30 p.m. @ Summit Middle School pool
- Volleyball: 10th grade, JV, and Varsity vs. Dowling Catholic, starting at 5:45 p.m. @ JHS gymnasium
Wednesday: No homecoming activities
Thursday: Homecoming Parade, starting at 6 p.m. The parade runs along Pioneer Parkway – arrive early to get a good seat!
Friday: The Johnston Dragon football team takes on Des Moines Roosevelt. Ninth grade starts at 4:45 p.m., varsity starts at 7:30 p.m. Please follow all Dragon stadium parking and stadium guidelines. Coronation will take place before the varsity game begins.
Saturday: Homecoming Dance, 8-11 p.m. at JHS, student commons area.
