Student Death Notification
On Monday, May 8, Johnston Community School District officials learned Johnston High School sophomore Trevor Churchill died unexpectedly.
The district will be providing school counselor services at the high school for any student, staff member, parent, or community member in need of support surrounding his death. The high school, located at 6501 NW 62nd, will be open from for counseling services all days this week, from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. The district is encouraging parents to monitor their child’s social media activity, peer conversations, and behavior that may indicate they are struggling with the grieving process.

The visitation and funeral will be held on Friday, May 12 at the Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, WDM, IA. The visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m.; funeral services will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a luncheon to follow.
